Little steps to help your meditation practice

The meditation aspect of yoga is a challenge to me. It doesn’t come easily. But with some help from inspirational dialogue and a bit of reading, I am making a little progress. Problem is, that when living and practicing in a city trying to clear your mind is a big ask.
One key tip is start small! Don’t try and clear your mind at at once try these steps:
1. Just start to push thoughts gently out to the edges, or turn down the volume slightly.
2. As a next step, see if you can step outside youself for a moment and try to observe your thoughts without giving into them.
3. If the thought persists, acknowledge it and smile at the thought. If you get stressed about not being able to let go of the thought, loop back to step 1 or put it on tomorrows to do list!
For me I know that trying to wipe my mind totally free of thoughts is not realistic at in one go, but these 3 steps are a great start.
